Sallie Mae issues statement on value of education
Sallie Mae, the nation’s No. 1 financial services company specializing in education, today issued a statement about the U.S. Census Bureau recent report on educational attainment in the United States, which found that a record number of Americans—61 million—have earned a bachelor’s degree or higher. This figure represents 30 percent of the adult population ages 25 and older, up from 1998 when less than a quarter of the population had attained this level of education and up from 5 percent in 1947.
